Technical Support for Suspension Bridge Construction
Since 2011, Janahit Gramin Sewa Samittee (JGSS) has provided technical and social mobilization support for the planning, design, construction, and supervision of suspension bridges in six local governments of Sindhupalchok:
- Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality
- Balephi Rural Municipality
- Sunkoshi Rural Municipality
- Melamchi Municipality
- Helambu Rural Municipality
- Panchpokhari Thangpaldhap Rural Municipality
JGSS supports site assessment, technical surveys, design and cost estimation, user committee formation, social mobilization, construction supervision, quality assurance, and coordination with local governments and communities.
The initiative has strengthened safe, reliable, and all-season connectivity, enabling remote communities to better access schools, health facilities, markets, government services, and livelihood opportunities, particularly benefiting women, children, students, farmers, older people, and other vulnerable groups.
